We are a team of artists
We're Dawn Photo co.
Because we operate as a team, instead of a one-man show like most other photographers in our area, All our photographers have to worry about is showing up and creating relationships and art to provide the best experience for our clients.
The editing, communication, marketing and client management are all handled by other team members who are experts at those things. The concept is simple but genius.
Each person is fulfilling their role to the fullest potential because their job is their strength. That means you, as the client, get the best possible parts of each of us.

The founder, visionary and editor behind Dawn Photo Co. Mikayla Dawn Chaparro has run a thriving photography business for 7+ years. She is a wife to Justice, and mother to her 5 beautiful children. Her son, Valor, passed suddenly in 2021 and this company is a direct result of the new beginnings the Lord began weaving in her and her family's life so she could be more present. Salt & light is what she aims to bring to the table through all that she does.

Meet the Team
As a lead artist in videography and photography, Justice excels at turning life into art. He takes a fly-on-the-wall approach to his films and beautifully captures memories in their raw, authentic form. He and Mikayla have been married for almost 9 years, and he is a devoted dad to his 5 children with her. Most people know him for his passion for cooking, dry humor, strong musical talents, and of course, that hair.

With a camera in hand for almost a decade, Kelli has years of experience to bring on the scene to your day with her calm and professional presence. She is a devoted wife to a larger than life Texan, and a loving mother of two. She has also experienced the loss of her son, William, and desires to choose an abundant life while she awaits their eternal reuinion. In her free time you can find her curled up with a good book, or enjoying a nice glass of bubbly with good friends.

You can call her Gabe. She is a photographer with a passion for family, good stories, long meals and rich fulfilling conversation. She is an expert at finding the right light, and leads you through an experience of capturing memories that will last a lifetime. While Gabe is originally from Georgia, she married a local Lubbock man and has three beautiful children with the love of her life. (plus a dog & chickens). We say she has full hands and a full heart!

The expert in all things systems, business management, and client experience. Taylor has been working in photography and entrepreneurship for over 10 years. This gal ensures our team can operate to its fullest and that our client's experiences are top notch. She has been working with Mikayla for over 4 years! Outside of operating the behind the scenes of Dawn Photo Co., you can find her podcasting, drinking whiskey, and raising her two kids.

Born and raised in England, Ellie is our Marketing Assistant, who handles our day to day behind the scenes. She is an all round creative who helps take the stress off the backend and makes sure our marketing and client needs are taken care of. In her free-time, Ellie can be found dabbling in photography, traveling with her husband Luigi or hanging out with her Dog Bentley.

Sarah is a proud Lubbock local with nearly 10 years of experience in marketing and communications. She has a passion for crafting brand identities and masterfully communicating brand voices. As a new mama, she has started a new beginning of her own as a freelance marketing consultant. When she’s not working alongside our team, she loves soaking up the sun and time with her husband and baby girl.

Originally from the midwest, she now lives in Berlin, Germany combining her passion to support creatives and see the Lord reach the nations alongside her husband and 2 kids. After 8 years of doing her own photography, she found a new love in editing for others and being a part of a team that is devoted to creating the most beautiful imagery for their clients.
